Section 1 Understanding the Login Issue

Why Doesn’t the Login Button Change to “My Account”?

On lmdaj.org, after entering your username and password and clicking Login, some users find the navigation bar does NOT update from “Login” to “My Account.” This is a browser caching or session cookie issue — the browser is loading an older cached version of the page that does not reflect the authenticated session.

This is NOT a problem with your account or your password. The fastest fix is opening a Private (Incognito) browser window, which starts with no stored cookies or cache, ensuring lmdaj.org loads its current live state.

💡 Tip

Your account and password are fine. The issue is your browser’s stored cache. Using a private window bypasses this instantly.

Section 2 What Is a Private / Incognito Window?

Private Browsing — A Quick Explanation

A private or incognito browser window operates independently from your normal browsing session. Key characteristics include:

  • Does not use stored cookies, cache, or session data from regular browsing history
  • Every private window starts completely fresh, as if you have never visited any website before
  • Because there is no cached version, the website loads its current live state directly from the server
  • This is the ideal fix for login sessions stuck due to cached page states or stale cookies

ℹ️ Privacy Note

While private/incognito mode hides browsing history from other local device users, activity remains visible to your internet service provider and network administrator.

Section 2A Setting Up Google Authenticator

Setting Up Google Authenticator (2FA)

LMDAJ uses Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to add an extra layer of security to your account. After entering your username and password, you will be prompted to enter a 6-digit verification code generated by the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone. The app must be installed and your LMDAJ account linked to it before you can complete login.

📱 First Time?

If this is your first login with 2FA enabled, LMDAJ will prompt you to scan a QR code during setup. Have your smartphone ready with Google Authenticator installed before proceeding.

Step 1 — Download Google Authenticator

Download the free Google Authenticator app from the official store for your smartphone. Published by Google LLC. No account is required to use the app itself.

The app is free to download. No Google account is required to use Google Authenticator itself.

Step 2 — Link Your LMDAJ Account to Google Authenticator

  1. Log in to org in a regular browser window (or ask your administrator to initiate setup).
  2. Navigate to My Account → Security Settings → Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. Click “Enable 2FA” or “Set Up Authenticator App.”
  4. A QR code will appear on the screen.
  5. Open the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone.
  6. Tap the + (plus) icon, then select “Scan a QR code.”
  7. Point your phone’s camera at the QR code displayed on the lmdaj.org screen.
  8. The app will automatically add an LMDAJ entry and begin generating rotating 6-digit codes.
  9. Enter the 6-digit code currently shown in the app into the confirmation field on lmdaj.org and click Confirm.
  10. 2FA is now active. From this point forward, every login will require a code from Google Authenticator.

🔒 Security Reminder

Never share your Google Authenticator codes with anyone, including LMDAJ staff. These codes are single-use and expire after 30 seconds. LMDAJ support will never ask you to read your code aloud or share it via email or phone.

Section 3 Opening a Private Window & Logging In with 2FA

How to Open a Private / Incognito Window & Log In with 2FA

Follow the instructions below for your specific browser. Each section provides step-by-step guidance for both Windows and macOS, including the 2FA verification step using Google Authenticator.

3.1 — 🔵 Google Chrome (Incognito Mode)

🖥️ Windows

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of the browser window.
  3. Select “New Incognito Window” from the dropdown menu.
  4. A new window opens with a dark theme and an incognito icon (hat-and-glasses) in the top-left corner.
  5. In the address bar, type org and press Enter.
  6. Click Login in the navigation bar, enter your email address and password, then click Log In.
  7. A Two-Factor Authentication prompt will appear on screen, asking for your 6-digit verification code.
  8. Open the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone.
  9. Locate the LMDAJ entry in the app and note the 6-digit code currently displayed (codes refresh every 30 seconds).
  10. Type the 6-digit code into the verification field on lmdaj.org and click Verify.
  11. The navigation bar should now show “My Account” — you are successfully logged in.

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Click the Chrome menu in the top menu bar, or click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
  3. Select “New Incognito Window.”
  4. A new dark-themed window opens with the incognito hat-and-glasses icon.
  5. Navigate to org, click Login, and enter your email address and password.
  6. When prompted for your Two-Factor Authentication code, open Google Authenticator on your smartphone, find the LMDAJ entry, and enter the current 6-digit code into the verification field on lmdaj.org.
  7. Click Verify. “My Account” should now appear in the navigation bar.

⏱️ Time-Sensitive Codes

Google Authenticator codes refresh every 30 seconds. Enter the code promptly after reading it. If the code expires before you submit, simply wait for the new code to appear and use that instead.

3.2 — 🔷 Microsoft Edge (InPrivate Mode)

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (…) in the top-right corner of the browser window.
  3. Select “New InPrivate Window.”
  4. A new window opens with a dark blue/purple theme and an InPrivate badge in the top-right corner.
  5. Navigate to org, click Login, and enter your email address and password.
  6. When the Two-Factor Authentication screen appears, open Google Authenticator on your smartphone.
  7. Locate the LMDAJ entry and enter the current 6-digit verification code into the prompt on lmdaj.org, then click Verify.
  8. The navigation bar should update to show “My Account.”

  1. Open Microsoft Edge on your Mac.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (…) in the top-right corner, or go to File in the menu bar.
  3. Select “New InPrivate Window.”

  5. When prompted for 2FA, open Google Authenticator on your smartphone, enter the current 6-digit LMDAJ code into the verification field on lmdaj.org, and click Verify.
  6. Confirm “My Account” appears in the navigation bar.

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox.
  2. Click the three-line menu (☰) in the top-right corner of the browser window.
  3. Select “New Private Window.”
  4. A new window opens with a purple mask icon in the toolbar, indicating private mode is active.
  5. Navigate to org and log in with your email address and password.
  6. When the 2FA verification prompt appears, open Google Authenticator on your smartphone.
  7. Enter the current 6-digit LMDAJ code from the app into the verification field on lmdaj.org and click Verify.
  8. Confirm the navigation bar now shows “My Account.”

  3. Select “New Private Window.”

  5. When prompted for a Two-Factor Authentication code, open Google Authenticator, find the LMDAJ entry, enter the current 6-digit code into the verification field on lmdaj.org, and click Verify.
  6. “My Account” should appear in the navigation bar.

3.4 — 🍎 Safari (Private Window — macOS Only)

ℹ️ Platform Note

Safari is only available on macOS and iOS/iPadOS devices. It is not available on Windows.

🍎 macOS

  1. Open Safari.
  2. In the top menu bar, click File.
  3. Select “New Private Window” from the dropdown.
  4. The address bar background turns dark/gray to indicate private mode. The words “Private Browsing” may appear in the Smart Search field.
  5. Navigate to org, click Login, and enter your email address and password.
  6. When prompted for your Two-Factor Authentication code, open Google Authenticator on your iPhone or iPad.
  7. Find the LMDAJ entry and enter the current 6-digit code into the verification field on lmdaj.org.
  8. Click Verify. Confirm “My Account” now appears in the site’s navigation bar.

Section 4 Completing Your Login on lmdaj.org

Completing Your Login on lmdaj.org

Once you have opened a private or incognito window using the instructions in Section 3, follow these steps to log into your LMDAJ account:

  1. With your private/incognito window open, go to the address bar and type org, then press Enter.
  2. The LMDAJ homepage will load. Locate the Login link in the top navigation bar.
  3. Click Login. You will be taken to the login page.
  4. Enter your registered email address and password in the fields provided.
  5. Click the Log In
  6. A Two-Factor Authentication prompt will appear. Open the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone.
  7. Locate the LMDAJ entry in the app and enter the displayed 6-digit code into the verification field on the lmdaj.org screen.
  8. Click Verify or Submit.
  9. Watch the top navigation bar — it should now update from “Login” to “My Account” within a few seconds.
  10. Click “My Account” to access your user dashboard, where you can manage your subscription, article submissions, and profile information.

✅ Success

If the navigation bar now shows “My Account,” your password AND Two-Factor Authentication code were both accepted. You are fully logged in and can access your LMDAJ dashboard.

⚠️ Still Not Working?

Login button still shows “Login” after entering credentials in private mode

Double-check your email address and password. Try resetting your password using the “Forgot Password” link on the login page.

“My Account” appears but clicking it shows an error or blank page

Clear cookies in your regular browser (Settings → Privacy → Clear Browsing Data), then try logging in again normally outside of private mode.

Private/Incognito window won’t open

Ensure your browser is up to date. Try restarting your browser and using the keyboard shortcut listed in Section 3.

Forgot which email address was used to register

Contact the LMDAJ support team via the Contact Us page at lmdaj.org. Include any alternate email addresses you may have used.

Account was created but never activated

Check your email inbox — including your spam/junk folder — for an activation email from lmdaj.org. Click the activation link before attempting to log in.

Browser says “Your connection is not private”

This is a browser security warning. Click “Advanced” then “Proceed to lmdaj.org.” The site uses HTTPS/SSL encryption and is secure.

Page loads slowly or shows outdated content

In private mode, press Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or ⌘+Shift+R (macOS) to force a hard refresh.

Google Authenticator code is rejected or says “Invalid code”

Codes expire every 30 seconds. Wait for the code to refresh and enter the new one quickly. Ensure your smartphone’s clock is set to automatic/network time, as time drift causes code mismatches.

Google Authenticator app is not showing an LMDAJ entry

You need to link your LMDAJ account to the app. Go to My Account → Security Settings → Two-Factor Authentication and scan the QR code with the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone.

Lost access to Google Authenticator (new phone or deleted app)

Contact the LMDAJ support team via the Contact Us page at lmdaj.org to request 2FA recovery or account reset. Do not share your codes with support staff.

Google Authenticator app won’t open or crashes

Ensure your smartphone’s operating system is up to date. Try reinstalling the app from the Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iPhone/iPad).
